Displayable Creator 2.0.0 (beta1)
Here is the first beta of the 2.0 Displayable Creator application.
New features:
- A new look: The main window is now a small window. The list of queued images and share-able Displayables is in its own separate window (which can be hidden or shown).
- Multi-drop: You can now drop multiple items on the app window to create and add Displayables in a batch. Images will be processed and Displayables will be added to the list of share-able items.
- Bigger tiles: Tile size selection is now possible. You can choose between 256 / 384 / 512 pixels sided tiles. Bigger tiles are more space efficient, the iOS devices needs less of them to fill the screen, but they take longer to load.
- Improved performance: The tiling engine was partially rewritten to better handle big images and to lay the groundwork for future features. As a result, tiling takes slightly less time.
Disabled features:
- Folder export. Currently disabled. Let me know if you were using it and I’ll bring it back.
- Small tile size. The previous (only) tile size was 192 px, and the new minimum is 256. Let me know if it is too big for your devices.
Please let me know if you find bugs or weird behaviors.
Updated: De-activated, in favor of Displayable Creator 2.0.0 Beta 2.
Displayable Creator 2.0.0 Beta1
I am sorry for the very long hiatus. In September last year I joined a small company in Timor Leste: Catalpa International. There was a lot to learn for the job, and a lot of projects to apply it on. Things started to ease a bit in March (2012) and April, and I did some work on improving the Displayable Creator. In July my wife and I left Timor Leste to come back to Geneva where we arrived in August. Settling in took some time, as well as adjusting to working remotely. This last few week I blocked some time to polish all the changes and finally release a new version.
